Baa Baa Black Sheep

Hello Everyone!

This week there was another food adventure at the casa de DaveMartin. Here is the thing about DaveMartin: it doesn't make sense how amazing they are at food adventures.  This week they prepared for us slow cooked lamb that we transformed into lamb wraps.  It was the most amazing lamb ever. Slow cooking=the best kind of cooking.

We devoured it so fast I didn't have any time to take pictures of the food when it was finished, but in the middle of the day this is the picture that I got in my inbox:

That picture got me through my day :)

Have a great week everyone!!

Vacation

So last week was my week off from work, and of course I pick the week before the record breaking heat we get this week!

I did however get a chance for a quick trip to Quebec City for a few days, where of course it was hailing out and freezing :) Still had fun in the cold and got some delicious foods, like duck poutine:

Have a great week,

We Will Rock You

Hey Friends!

Last night, we played a show at Petit Campus as part of a yearly Montreal music event called "Women of Rock". This charity event happens around Women's Day and features all-female and female-fronted bands from around the city. This year, money was raised for an organization called Women Aware. The group provides assistance to survivors, family and friends of women who have experienced domestic violence.

We had a great time at the show! The bands on the bill (Mad June, Cryptique, Ol' School Johnny and Triggered Response) were so diverse that it made for a really fun night. The bands ranged from electro to punk to hard rock. Not going to lie, we danced a whole lot! Good thing we're always wearing our dancing shoes.

Have a great week!

Sweetness

Hello!

Last night we played a super-awesome show with our friends The Koalas at (one of my favourite bars) Crobar.  It was a fundraiser show for two lovely ladies who are flying to Vegas really soon to run a half maraton to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.  Hopefully we were able to help them raise lots and lots of money for the cause!

This week marked my last full week of classes so to celebrate I brought red velvet cupcakes to school.  If I can say so myself, and I will, they were delicious.

Next week we are playing another benefit show at Petit Campus, so come check it out :)

Pedal pusher

So I did a little shopping the last few weeks and decided to fill in the last few spaces on my pedalboard.

I'm not giving an in-depth review, but here's what I got:

Definitely my fav of the three, hands down. Don't know why I went so long without a good overdrive pedal, but very happy I picked this one up! Just taking it out of the box, plugging it in and loving the way it sounds before even touching the settings - that won me over right away.

This is my third delay, already have a DD-20 and an MXR carbon copy and couldn't resist this one for some reason. Very different from the carbon copy, the AD-9 seems to add a little low end which is different - still trying to figure out where it fits in.

Tremolo is not a sound I think I'll use super often, so I went with a cheaper pedal here, but am pleasantly surprised with the quality. It's nice, small, well made metal casing, and it sounds great.

Sorry for the late blog

Have a great rest of the week,
Diana

Bring Me Your Love

Hello!

So, Dallas Green has a beautiful voice. We knew this before going to see him at his sold-out Metropolis show on Friday night, but we had forgotten how good he was! His set was a perfect hour and a half of glorious music from his three albums. About halfway through his set, Mr. Green's bandmates left him alone on stage for a few songs with only an acoustic guitar and harmonica. T'was most wonderful. Just writing about the show makes me want to see it all over again!

My favorite performances of the evening:

Have a great week :)

I Wanna Dance With Somebody

I had this whole blog-post ready about what I did this week and then I got home last night and found out that Whitney Huston died. One of my most vivid childhood memories is driving with my grandparents in their Cadillac and belting "I Will Always Love You" at the top of my lungs over and over and over again. Here is my little tribute to the woman who gave me many childhood memories as well as many adult memories (aka me thinking I know how to sing and dance when I'm out in public)

Honestly if you've ever been to a bar and this comes on you KNOW you flip out and dance like a fool.

This song also evokes that feeling.

Have a great week full of dancing and singing because I'm sure you'll  be hearing these songs all over this week.
