Easter Hunny Bunny

First off this is incredibly creepy, but I wanted an Easter song for my title:

Second, last week was my cousin's 14th birthday so I made her an awesome cake.  Here it is:

Third, this weekend has been awesome.  School gave us Friday and Monday off but I decided I also wanted Thursday off so 5 day weekend is the best! As much as most of it has been dedicated to doing homework, I've also spent most of my time in pyjamas.  Ain't nothin wrong with that!

Tonight is Easter and my aunt is making a ridiculously amazing turkey dinner. Seriously, her stuffing is better than anybody else's.  People can say that their family has better but it's just not true. So I'm looking forward to eating a plate of stuffing with gravy and some turkey and then falling into a tryptophan coma. If I can still move, I may crawl to Diana's because word on the street is that they have lamb at her house.

Me thinks this is a night for stretchy pants!!!

Happy Eating (I mean Easter!) Everyone!!

Skills To Pay The Bills

First things first:
We are playing at BURRITOVILLE (2055 Bishop st) this Wednesday the 20th!
It a fundraise for a great cause with some awesome bands, everyone is invited!

Next thing, it's that time of year where it gets above the freezing point and people can't wait to get outside- Summer's coming!!
In my student life, these were also the final weeks of the semester right before that wonderful gap between school and working full-time (if you were lucky enough to have a few days in between). So, even though I've been working for over a year, summer still feels like the time to get things done. My goal this summer is to hone some awesome skills. Over the next few months I'll be updating on my progress, but for now here's what I'm working on.

First, I fixed up my mom's old bike and decided I want to make it to the old port for some sweet Queues de Castor - hopefully have a future blog of awesome picutres when that happens.
Next, I started to crochet a blanket to see if I could do it - photos to come.

Lastly and most importantly - I finally bought an accordion

So, that's what's coming up in my future blogs

Hopefully see you Wednesday,
DIANA

Pour Some Sugar on Me

Today, my family and I headed to a cabane à sucre in St. Eustache for a maple-syrup-soaked lunch. After getting pumped up in the car on the way there, we were ready to enjoy a feast of all-you-can-eat pea soup, coleslaw, ham, omelettes, sausages cooked in maple syrup, feves au lard, ice cream and crepes. (I won’t be eating dinner tonight). I hadn’t been to a cabane à sucre in years and I must say, it’s quite an enjoyable experience. It’s nice to be outside of the city for a change, where your only concern is whether or not to add maple syrup to your coffee. The answer is always add maple syrup. If you live in Quebec and haven’t been to à cabane a sucre yet this year, I believe you have until the end of the month to go – I would highly recommend it!

Now, if you're sick of the traditinoal cabane à sucres and want to step it up a notch, do yourself a favour and check out the Au Pied de Cochon’s cabane à sucre:  I'll let the video do the talking.

It's nap time! Have a great week :)

You're My Best Friend

Hello!

So this was a week for me that was filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Before getting to the highlights of the week, I can't do this blog without mentioning how my Buddy had to be put down this morning.  It's been really hard, and I've never had to go through something like that but it had to be done. Here is a picture of my pooper at 14 years old! I'm gonna miss you Buddy :(

Onto some happier thoughts, this week LINE SPECTRA joined forces with THE KOALAS to make some of the best hamburgers I've ever tasted.  I guess we were inspired by the guys from Epic Meal Time but honestly, these were amazing. Here is a photo of me, preparing the base.  It included a ton of ground beef, some maple bacon, some spicy sauces, hot jalapeno-like peppers, onions, eggs and tons and tons of BBQ and hot sauces.

We also made a giant batch of poutine and made fixins for our burgers.

Here is Pete's finished product:

While the burgers defeated Diana and myself, Vanessa did us proud and finished a whole burger.

FINALLY Diana had the awesome idea to make "meat-cupcakes" they were meatballs with mashed potatoes as the icing. We used the same meat base from our burgers and almost didn't share with anyone.  I did the piping.

So while my week has been really up and now really down I've had some amazing friends get me through it. Have a good week everyone, here's to more eating!
