So once upon a time Diana forgot to blog and then Vanessa and I got to humiliate her.
This little gem is from a dollar store adventure. Diana wanted a snowman hat. It looked awesome.
Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve everyone! I'm up to blog tomorrow so hopefully I don't forget, as there are plenty of humiliating things of me in existence.
Ok, so it definitely isn't looking like Christmas. It's raining outside! Where's the snow? Anyway, I guess that means less traffic and easier times parking... which are always good if you're doing your last-minute shopping this week!
Seeing as Christmas is right around the corner, I thought I'd post some fun SNL, Christmas-themed videos:
1) I'm finished school for the semester!!
2) The holidays are right around the corner!!!
In order to celebrate, a bunch of us went out to celebrate with some Wednesday night karaoke at The Bull on St. Catherine's street. Let's just say after a little bit of liquid courage, this young lady was ready to siiiing!
Songs of the night included: "Go your own way", "Love in an elevator", "Californication" and "Let her cry" by good ol Hootie and The Blowfish. Apparently I have the same vocal range as Darius Rucker (just kidding, I totally knew that already). Most importantly though, there was a magical duet to the Bruce Springsteen version of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"
Here is the wonderful video of the E Street Band. All the favourites are there: Max, Patti, Bruce and Santa Clarence on sax. If these guys did it this good, you can only imagine how great it was when I sang it!
Last Tuesday I took the afternoon off work to sneak off to Burlington, Vermont to check out the Chris Cornell show with our good friend Chris from Luther Higgs.
I've been a big fan of Chris Cornell since Superunknown and still remember watching the video for Black Hole Sun on Much Music back when they played music videos...
The show was Amazing! Probably one of the best vocals I've ever heard live. Good mix of Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog/Audioslave/Solo stuff. Only low point of the night- Scream!
I'm a terrible concert reviewer...so I'll post some videos asap and let you see for yourself..
Happy late Thanksgiving to those who celebrated the holiday this week. Hope your stomachs are full of turkey and stuffing! Even though us Canadians didn't celebrate Thanksgiving this week, the girls and I sure had a feast of our own on Friday night. We gathered with some friends at our buddy Chris' house for an event we call Pie Day. The rules for Pie Day are pretty simple: only foods that are in pie form or that have 'pie' in their name are allowed to be eaten at Pie Day. Let me tell you, this round of Pie Day sure did not disappoint:
Appetizers: we started off the evening with an assortment of mini quiches: spinach & artichoke, broccoli & double cheddar cheese, mushroom & pepper jack cheese, and swiss cheese & applewood bacon.
Main course: Diana brought a delicious homemade shepherd's pie and a tourtiere. The mashed potatoes on that shepherd's pie were heavenly :)
Dessert: I think there were more dessert pies than any other pies: Diana's peanut butter and chocolate pie with graham cracker crust, Kathy's s'mores pie with a fudgy chocolately centre and marshmallows on top, and Chris' mom's homemade apple and pecan pies. I am so full just thinking about this.
To make our Pie Day extra special, we watched a whole lot of this classic Montreal show:
Once upon a time a man named weird al wrote a whole bunch of songs with food themes. This has been very handy for me when I have to write a food blog post and need a title.
On that note. Last week-ish Martin and Dave united us over for some Paula Deen inspired Lasagna Sandwiches. Basically you take a lasagna and sandwich it between two slices of garlic bun and you have a delicious supper. We so made Felix and Norton cookies for dessert.
I have a delicious picture on my phone that I can't upload right now but for fear of a huniliaton post at my expense I'm gonna post this now and upload the picture now.
So I've had this little gem on my phone for almost a year now, I knew it would come in handy!
This is why Diana doesn't get a mic. Enjoy!
Hopefully Diana still blogs this week, just because if it's about our food adventure of last week, it deserves to be blogged about!
