Know what makes a great weekend? I'd say ... Mexican food, fireworks and Felix & Norton cookies. And finding free parking in Old Montreal! That's what we did Saturday night. First off, Diana and I had a deliiiiicious meal at a Mexican restaurant in Old Montreal called Casa de Mateo. To start, we each ordered a Tequila Sunrise: tequila, orange juice and grenadine. New favorite drink? Yes. Then we ordered some guacamole as an appetizer. A few minutes after we ordered it, a woman came to our table with a cart and made the guacamole right in front of us! As we waited for our main meals (fajitas and stuffed chicken), we got to enjoy the sweet sounds of a live MARIACHI BAND! I had never seen one before, other than on TV, so it was quite a treat to hear them. Not gonna lie, I've had "La Bamba" stuck in my head all day :)
After dinner, Diana and I headed to the Old Port to meet up with Kathy and Bronson. We found an excellent spot near the Clock Tower where we got a great view of the fireworks going off at La Ronde. It was amazing to see how many people came out to see the fireworks. And Old Montreal at night, all lit up, is probably my favorite area of the city. It's a beautiful place to be.
Finally, on our way back home, we spotted it: a Felix & Norton cookie truck. Kathy almost made us jump over a fence about 3.5 feet high to get to it faster! Seriously though, best cookies. They were so gooey and chocolatey, and full of butter. Great way to end the evening :)
Oh no, now I want a cookie...
Have a good night!
Vanessa
